My Christmas Wish List for You

A close friend of mine has had a really tough year, as many of us have.  She has struggled and is looking toward the new year for new beginnings.  She was talking to me about wanting to get me something for Christmas, but just couldn’t afford anything.

Her words haunted me as I thought about dreams and hopes dashed and stomped into the ground.

And as I thought about what I truly wanted for her, I realized I created a ‘Christmas Wish List’ from me to her.  And I thought it might just be what you wish for those in your life that have struggled, or for yourself.

So I am sharing my Christmas Wish List for you, too.

Much Love,

My Christmas Wish List for you…..

I want you to prosper.  Not just survive, but thrive and prosper and glow again, or for the first time.  I want you to know what it’s like to succeed on your own and be your own woman.  I want you to have the drive, the determination, the goals, and the tenacity to get up every single day and do everything you have to do to get to the prospering place, wherever that may be.

I want you to be a better person than you were the day before and know that, because of this, you and your son will be ok, after all, in spite of all you’ve been through.  You’re a good person, a great person, but we ALL can be a better person.  We just have to stop, look around and see what we want for ourselves to be better and go after that.

I want you to distance yourself from those in your life that drain you emotionally, physically, and financially, so you can rise above pettiness, drama and the energy sucking that goes along with those people. That’s not to mean they’re not in your life, but it means they no longer hold any control over your feelings or actions.

I want you to adjust your attitude about everything that has ever happened to you to one of ‘experience’ instead of one of ‘why me?’.  EVERYTHING you’ve been through up to this very moment in your life has shaped you to where you are RIGHT now.  It’s that way for all of us.  We screw up, we learn, we do differently.  You’ll never stop screwing up, none of us will.  But if we use that screw up as a learning experience, then we’ve bettered ourselves and won’t be as likely to make that Same screw up again. Or at least we’ll be able to look at it differently.

I want you to look at each day as an opportunity.  Attack it.  Live it. Dream it.  Look for something good in every single day, because it’s there.  Sometimes it’s hard to find, but it IS there.  And sometimes, it’s so damn tiny, that you have to squint to see it, but it IS there.  And then smile about that one thing, if that’s the only good thing about the day.

I want you to plan your destiny.  Of course, destiny, karma and the forces of the universe will laugh, but if you have a plan, a realistic one and a dream driven one, then at least you can get back on track or know the path to take when all those other forces laugh.  Or you’ll be able to look at your plan and say, “Hey…maybe I should take THIS path instead.”   And I want you to write that plan down where you’ll see it EVERY day, and then look at it.  Every Single Day.

I want you to have something that makes you happy.  Something just for you.  A secret ‘thing’ that can make you smile when you pause and see it, or feel it or think about it. This is your sanctuary in this crazy, messed up world we live in.  Pick a place and visualize it then keep it tucked in your memory for those moments when you just can’t take any more.  See it, think it, and know you’ll get through this, too.

And Last, but certainly not least….I want you find love…..with someone who will be your partner in life and love you for eternity.cropped-divider-11-e1289889594630.jpg

May your Christmas hold magic, dream dust and hope.  And may all your wishes turn into dreams and reality.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to you all…..

  6. I feel like this was written for me, I love this and definitely will share it.. One thing I have learned as I have gotten older is to distance myself, I don’t need all the drama as so forth. You are so much better off without it.. Happy Holidays to you and your family..

  7. This is perfect, my friend is also having a rough time and it’s has been going on for a couple of years. I hope you don’t mind if I steal this and change it slightly, she is moving house first week of January and this would be a perfect mission statement for the start of the rest of her life.
Thank you for the company and the laughter, I wish you and yours a Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year

  10. A beautiful Christmas List and exactly what I needed today. I am looking at the need to relocate to begin my life yet again after losing my job last month. It is difficult to find work as a 61 year old nurse. I enjoy your upbeat view on life and the happiness you’ve learned to experience despite your heartaches. I pray many will be able to build happiness into their lives as well. Thank you.
