Has anyone seen 1995?

I must be in a time warp, a time bubble or at the very least some sort of rum-induced time machine.  I am fully aware of being 50.  There’s really no getting around that when I look in the mirror every day and see the gray silver hair and not-so-fine lines around my eyes lips chin face.

And I really do know that its 2013. But Damn, when someone says, “that happened 5 years ago” my brain IMMEDIATELY goes to 1995.  Or at least sometime in the 90’s.  How can it be possible that 1995 was REALLY 18 years ago.  Holy Shit.  There are adults walking around that were BORN in 1995.

(And NOW I remember registering Tater for Kindergarten and having to write down MY date of birth for something and the long list of other parents above me were all born in the late 80’s or early 90’s. I told the teacher that I was the oldest person here and she said, “Oh no, there’s a grandmother over there”….I turned and saw Grandma Moses snoring in a rocking chair.  Gee, Thanks.)

Here’s a shocker for ya ~ Pretty Woman came out in 1990 and Julia Roberts was only 21.  Yep, 23 years ago.

And Holy HellBalls, Harrison Ford is 71 YEARS OLD!!!

I KNOW.

I think I’ll just stop writing the date, and let my little brain be happy.  I’m not gonna think about this CENTURY, or the fact that the 90’s were 20 years ago.  “A few years ago” will mean whatever I want it to mean ~ and those 18-30 year old ‘kids’ can just figure out the date I’m talking about, or ignore me ~ whichever is easier. (Like that’s a tough choice.)

But FIRST I’ll go to Wal-Mart and look through the $5 movie bin, find Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Pretty Woman and have a movie night just for me….cause I’ll be damned if Richard Gere isn’t 64.

  1. I know the feeling. I am a social worker you saving the world and regulating chaos and yes my super power really is common sense, but I digress. Anyway I see all these clients and then I realize not only am I old enough to be their mother I find out their actual mother is really younger then me. Freaks me out everytime. When did I become the elder generation?

  3. Sasha,
How about 1980s? I’m lost somewhere between then and now! 😀 I remember at the “young” age of 43 taking my youngest (4 yrs old) to enroll in Day Care…. and yes, I was the oldest, next to the owner, but thank goodness she didn’t have a rocking chair!!

And now here I am… 62 yrs old with son’s 36, 34 and 24 year old… Where has the time gone? LOL… I love my son’s, my daughter-in-law, grandson and great-granddaughter… I like Lisa’s idea about birthdays! I think I’ll go back and re-calculate my age!!

    Love your blogs! 😀
